The Campus
Comprehensive Facilities
The Yeshiva makes every effort to fulfill the basic needs of every student and make the Yeshiva a genuine home away from home. Yeshivat Sha’arei Mevaseret Zion is proud to offer students a self-contained campus encompassing:
- a Beit Midrash
- Beit Knesset
- classrooms
- dining hall
- dormitories with central air-conditioning
- basketball court
- ping-pong and weight room facilities
- e-mail room
- student lounge
- laundry facilities
- and many amenities nearby
The location of the Yeshiva as well as the facilities on and off campus
afford students a myriad of options for their free time such as playing
sports (often with our Rabbeim!) on the newly renovated basketball court
or at the local Mevaseret indoor gym, working out in our fully outfitted
weight room, baking challot (!) with the Av Bayit in the student lounge
mini kitchenette or walking 15 minutes to the Mevaseret Mall for grocery
shopping or to enjoy a falafel or pizza. The Mevaseret Mall also contains
a post-office, bank, supermarket, photo and computer stores, book and
stationery stores and many other retail outlets so Talmidim can purchase
almost anything they might require without having to leave Mevaseret.
The beauty of the location of Mevaseret Zion is that it retains a small
town feel with close proximity to the bustling capital city.
Jerusalem is a 15 minute drive by bus from Mevaseret Zion which makes travel to and from the city center easy and fast. A bus stop is located close to the Yeshiva and buses run frequently and are reliable.
Accommodations
Dormitories are open throughout the year and are fully air-conditioned (central air), with American quality furniture and accessories. Talmidim share with up to three others in a room, allowing for maximum privacy while at the same time forming friendships with a close group of roommates. There is a spacious and well-equipped bathroom on each floor as well a hot and cold water cooler and a fridge for Talmidim’s use.
Dining
The dining hall offers Talmidim a rich and varied breakfast, a dairy lunch and meat dinner. All meals are provided by a Mehadrin caterer on campus who offers a wide range of foods “that guys like” but at the same time provides a truly wholesome menu including a hot dish for breakfast as well as American cereals and whole wheat breads, fresh vegetables with every meal, few processed foods, fruit after meals and a good balance between protein and starch.
There is a special breakfast menu on Rosh Chodesh with bagels, spreads, puddings and rogelach, as well an abundant and delicious Shabbat menu of the highest quality including a combination of traditional and Israeli dishes. Chagigot and chagim comprise an upgraded menu with a variety of gourmet foods all prepared yesh m’ayin by our caterer.
