Pocket Money:

We highly discourage students from bringing cash in large amounts for use during the school year. The Yeshiva offers students storage of cash and small valuables in the office safe but the Yeshiva cannot take responsibility for loss or theft.
We do recommend the following methods:

  1. Credit Cards or Debit Cards - Credit cards are an easy way to make local purchases throughout the country. MasterCard and Visa are the most accepted cards. Cash may be withdrawn from many ATMs with either a NYCE or Cirrus debit card.
  2. Travelers Checks - Can be converted to cash at banks for a small fee (some banks charge a fee per travelers check).
  3. Western Union Transfers – Most branches of the Israeli Postal Authority (including the post office in the Mevaseret mall) accept bank transfers from any Western Union Affiliate. For more information, please contact your local Western Union branch.

General Expenses:

Laundry:
The Yeshiva has washing machines and dryers available for students' use at the cost of approx. NIS 12 (approx. $2.70) per load. In addition, there is a Laundromat in the mall in Mevaseret Zion. Dry cleaning is also available.

Transportation:
Round-trip fare to and from Jerusalem is approx. NIS 14 (approx. $3.00) per trip. Bus fare for destinations on "free" Shabbatot depends on the distance. A local taxi company is available 24 hours a day for students' convenience.

Personal:
Spending money, money for seforim, snack food, bus fare, gifts for Shabbat, etc.

Safety of Belongings & Money:

Combination locks are provided on all doors, which, when kept locked, ensure that students' belongings are safe. Personal property insurance is available for a separate fee directly from our insurance agent (see Download Forms). The Yeshiva is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

A safe is available for students' use and may be used to store all items excluding passports.

NOTE:
Each student is required to pay a $100 security deposit on arrival. This will be used only in the case of damage caused to Yeshiva property, and will be refunded upon leaving Yeshiva at the end of the year.
